A Closer Look at the Autumn 2013 Anime Season

A while back, I mentioned the anime I am looking forward to watching for the upcoming season. I gave brief outlines of each one, and why I was looking forward to them. You may remember that there was a lot that I didn't really have too much information on. In order to rectify that, the plan is to have this blog post talk about the plot of each anime, the air dates and number of episodes. I will try to include videos as well.
Oh, and I will be referring to TV Tropes, and AniChart for information.

I will only be looking at the anime that interest me, in order of their air dates. The air dates I'm referring to are correct at the time of writing.

Miss Monochrome
No video for this one. Miss Monochrome loves only the monochrome style, and dreams about changing the world into her favourite monochrome colour.
Miss Monochrome is due to air from October 1st, and will be a series of shorts.

Coppelion
In 2016 a meltdown of a nuclear power plant created a catastrophe in Tokyo. Twenty years after that, three girls are dispatched by the Self Defence Force to search for survivors. The three girls don't require any protective gear; they have been genetically altered to be immune to the effects of radiation.
Coppelion is due to air from October 2nd.

Kyoukai No Kanata (Beyond the Boundary)
Akihito, a half-demon high school boy with healing powers encounters Mirai Kuriyama. Mirai possesses the ability to manipulate blood. Akihito saves Mirai from jumping of a rooftop, and then disturbing events begin to unfold.
Beyond the Boundary is due to air from October 2nd.

Pokémon The Origin
This is an adaptation of the first generation of Pokémon games. It shows the story of Red as he departs from his home of Pallet Town, with his first Pokémon Charmander. Along the way, he will battle the gym leaders of the Kanto region, his rival, and eventually the Elite Four.
I believe this is a one-off special, which is due to air on October 2nd.

Kill La Kill
Ryuko Matoi transfers into a new school, where the students possess uniforms that give them various powers and abilities. At the school, the student council president Satsuki Kiryuin rules by force. Ryuko stands in the way of Satsuki, wielding a sword shaped like half a pair of scissors.
Kill La Kill is due to air from October 3rd for two cours. That means it will be roughly around twenty-six episodes long.

Outbreak Company
A thoroughbred otaku named Kano Shinichi ends up being transported into a fantasy world. In that worlds, elves exist, and dragons soar through the skies. Kano is given a task; he has to enhance cultural exchange by becoming a "moe missionary".
Outbreak Company is due to air from October 3rd.

Log Horizon

Thirty thousand Japanese gamers get trapped in the fantasy online game world of Elder Tale. What was once a world of swords and sorcery becomes the real world for those gamers.
Log Horizon is due to air from October 5th for twenty-five episodes.

Tesagure Bukatsumono
No video for this one. This is another schoolgirl series, that centres around the extracurricular activities of students.
Tesagure Bukatsumono is due to air from October 5th.

Sekai De Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai! (I Want to be the Strongest in the World!)
Sakura Hagiwara and Elena Miyazawa are the leading members of a popular idol group known as "Sweet". A female professional wrestler, Ruo Kazama, attacks and injures Elena during the recording of a TV programme. As a result, Sakura enters into the world of female professional wrestling in order to avenge Elena.
I Want to be the Strongest in the World! is due to air from October 6th.

Non Non Biyori
Ichijou Hotaru, an elementary school student, has moved from Tokyo to the middle of the country with her parents. She has to adapt to her new school, which only has a total of five students. The students are all in the same class, and they range through elementary to middle school ages.
Non Non Biyori is due to air from October 7th.

BlazBlue Alter Memory
This anime is based on the BlazBlue series of fighting games. The SS-class rebel, Ragna the Bloodedge, appears in Kagutsuchi city. Supposedly, his goal in the city is to destroy the system that controls the world. As a result, many fighters converge on the city of Kagutsuchi in an attempt to claim the bounty on Ragna's head.
BlazBlue Alter Memory is due to air from October 8th.

Galilei Donna - Storia di tre sorelle a caccia di un mistero
This is a "battle action adventure" series, apparently. In 2061, global warming has become a thing of the past as a new ice age covers the world. Hozuki, Hazaki, and Kazaki Ferrari, three descendants of Galileo Galilei live in Tuscany. A mysterious organisation is searching for the "Galilei Donna", putting an international arrest warrant on the three sisters. As a result, the Ferrari sisters have to put aside their differences to join forces to fight the organisation and learn their true destiny.
Using my magic translating skills (*cough*Googletranslate*cough*), I can tell you that the subtitle, "storia di tre sorelle a caccia di un mistero" means "story of three sisters on the hunt for a mystery".
Galilei Donna is due to air from October 10th, and will last for eleven episodes.

Pupa
No video for this one, either. This is a life-and-death sibling story that follows Utsutsu and Yume Hasegawa, a boy and his little sister. Yume sees a mysterious red butterfly, and then her body undergoes a strange metamorphosis; she becomes a monster that eats humans. Of course, Utsutsu searches for a way to change her back.
Pupa is due to air sometime in October, though that's all the information I have at present.

So, there we have it. A closer look at those anime I have some interest in. Here's where I summarise things by giving the dates and each anime that airs on those days.
  • October 1st: Miss Monochrome
  • October 2nd: Coppelion, Beyond the Boundary, Pokémon The Origin
  • October 3rd: Kill La Kill, Outbreak Company
  • October 5th: Log Horizon, Tesagure Bukatsumono
  • October 6th: I Want to be the Strongest in the World!
  • October 7th: Non Biyori
  • October 8th: BlazBlue Alter Memory
  • October 10th: Galilei Donna - Storia di tre sorelle a caccia di un mistero
  • Sometime in October: Pupa
So these are the one I am definitely going to check out. There's no guarantee I will stick with all of them, but I will be watching at least the first few episodes of each.  Once the new season starts, if I see anything that catches my attention that isn't on the list, I will check it out and maybe make a blog post about it. I'm considering posting my musings about each episode of those anime I'll be watching.

Oh, and as a quick disclaimer, the names I have used here for the characters may not necessarily be spelt correctly. Of course, I won't really know until I've seen the subtitles, but I guess that's something to keep in mind for now.
