First Impressions: The Sun Penetrates the Illusions

Ah, another new anime, another new female protagonist. Anyway, this time this is my first impression of Gen'ei o Kakeru Taiyo, or The Sun Penetrates the Illusions.

At first, we're introduced to a girl named Akari who has a talent for fortune-telling, which she inherited from her deceased mother. After some more character introductions, Akari is attacked by a plant monster, but seemingly takes on a strange new appearance, using the power of the sun tarot card in order to defeat.
There are dark elements in this magical girl anime, which immediately draws a comparison to Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Also, there are a few unanswered questions, which I look forward to getting the answers to in future episodes.

There are other magical girls who use the power of tarot cards, although I'm not entirely sure which ones at the moment. As I thought, the premise is interesting.
I will continue watching this one, and hope that it is even half as good as Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Maybe it would be fairer to have an opinion of this without having seen Puella Magi Madoka Magica, but well, that'll have to be someone else's job.
